Overfeeding
Overfeeding is a large concern for every pet owner. If you buy your pet from a breeder, they can give you a regiment to follow regarding portions and frequency of feeding. If you didn't buy from a breeder, you should consult your veterinarian.
It is so easy to overfeed your best friend, you want to give them every opportunity to be happy; and that's what they are, when their eating. But there are serious long term problems with this very "human" behavior. First problem, is their bones are not built for being overweight. Carrying around extra pounds is hard on their hearts, joints and bones. Secondly, overfeeding leads to labored breathing and leaves them susceptible to diseases such as diabetes.
Often, we humans believe that feeding him or her human food is going to make them happier. However,in the long run, this should be forbidden. The fat, salt, and sugar content is bad enough for us, let alone their little bodies. These foods ultimately shorten their life span. Start from the beginning, and feed them a nutritious diet of dog food.
Remember, you are the alpha and that sweet little face will always be looking at you in that pleading and adoring way. What are they really saying? ......... "Please take me for a walk!".
